The first dolphins started playing at the bow Cruising


Με αφετηρία την La Seyne Sur Mer, µία παραθαλάσσια πόλη µέσα στον κόλπο της Toulon. Η αναχώρησή µας συνέπεσε µε την άφιξη του αεροπλανοφόρου Charles de Gaulle στο λιµάνι της Toulon, όπου είναι η βάση του Γαλλικού στόλου. Τα ελικόπτερα που πετούσαν γύρω µας επιβίβασαν το Πρόεδρο της Γαλλίας στο αεροπλανοφόρο. Λύσαµε αργά το µεσηµέρι από τον κόλπο της Toulon µε προορισµό την Κορσική και την πρωτεύουσά της, το Ajaccio, µια απόσταση 140 ν.µ. Αφού περάσαµε στα ανοιχτά των νησιών Les Porquerolles έξω από την Les Heyres, βγήκαµε στη θάλασσα της Λιγουρίας. Τα πρώτα δελφίνια έκαναν παιχνίδια µε την πλώρη του σκάφους, χαρίζοντάς µας εντυπωσιακές εικόνες. Λίγο αργότερα ο ήλιος βούτηξε στη θάλασσα και η σκηνοθετική πανδαισία ολοκλη- ρώθηκε. Με αίθριο καιρό και πλήρη ησυχία µας περίµενε µια δυσάρεστη έκπληξη κατά τις 03.00, σε πυκνή οµίχλη µέσα από την οποία µετά βίας ξεχώριζε η πλώρη µας, ένα κρουαζιερό- πλοιο το οποίο ήταν ορατό υπό κανονικές συνθήκες στα 10-12 µίλα, εµείς το είδαµε στο µισό µίλι.

At our departure point, La Seyne Sur Mer, the coastal town in the gulf of Toulon, we happened to see the arrival of the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle in the port of Toulon, which is the base of the French Navy. The helicopters hovering above were bringing the President of France on board the ship. We finally set sail in the evening heading towards Corsica and its capital, Ajaccio, aiming to cover a total distance of 140 nautical miles. After passing afar from the Les Porquerolles islands which are located outside Les Heyres, we entered the Ligurian Sea. The first dolphins started playing at the bow, posing for a handful of magnificent pictures. A bit later, the sun plunged into the sea and that feast for the eyes came to an end. Despite the generally clear weather and the absolute silence we were unpleasantly startled at around 03.00 am. Due to the thick mist we hardly managed to see ahead of our bow a massive cruiser which would normally be visible at 10-12 miles. We got to see her at a distance of half a mile.
